Academia Americană de Arte şi Științe ale Cinematografiei a anunțat joi, 14 ianuarie 2016, lista nominalizărilor la Premiile Oscar din 2016.

Filmul „The Revenant”, avându-l în rol principal pe Leonardo DiCaprio şi regizat de Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, este favoritul din acest an, pelicula intrând în cursa oscarurilor cu nominalizări la 12 categorii. Printre categoriile la care a fost nominalizat „The Revenant” se află cel de „cel mai bun film”, „cel mai bun actor”, „cel mai bun actor în rol secundar” sau „cel mai bun regizor”, însă lista poate continua. Pe locul al doilea în lista favoriților la Premiile Oscar se află filmul „Mad Max: Fury Road”, care a fost nominalizat la 10 categorii, iar locul trei îi revine filmului „The Martian”, cu Matt Damon în rolul principal, peliculă ce a primit 7 nominalizări la Oscar.
